Mr. Chan A Tong.

sir,

294

"G"

18th April 1910.

Law Courts.

In reply to your letter of the 5th February last, I

cannot agree with you that the work has been delayed for want of

particulars from thesoffice.

With reference to your request for an advance of 75%

of the value of wood still required, this cannot be granted, but,

as explained to you at a recent interview, the Government have

agreed to release at once a sum of $10,000 from the amount

retained under your contract (No.17 of 1903) and to release

in June next a further sum of £5,000. provided I am in a posi-

tion to report that satisfactory progress has been made with

the work in the meanwhile.

I would therefore again urge you to give the work

your daily attention. I note that you promise to engage a larger

staff of workmen but would point out that as the contract time

has already expired, it is impossible for you to complete your

contract No. 14 of 1908 within the stipulated time.

Mr. Chan A Tong,

Sir,

Law Courts.

Yurs faithfully,

(sd.) H.G.Fisher.

3rd June 1910.

I w uld again urge to engage more men for fixing of tiles,

this work is making but poor progress,

Please inform me at an early date what you have done re fit-

tiage etc: to Courts also as to timber for skirtings to offices.

Yours eto:

(sd.) H.G. Fisher.
